Imre Kozma is a Catholic priest ordained in 1963. In 1989, he founded the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta. He organised the accommodation of East German refugees in Hungary during the summer of 1989. He coordinated the distribution of Hungarian charity donations during the revolution in Romania in December 1989. During the Yugoslavian war, his organisation helped the transport of the injured and the evacuation of 8000 elderly people to Hungary. In 1997, he became a member of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God, after which he organised the founding of the Order’s polyclinic in Buda. He received numerous awards for his actions.
