Mor Nicodemus Daoud Matti Sharaf

His Eminence Archbishop Mor Nicodemus Daoud Matti Sharaf was born in Mosul in 1976, from Syriac parents who raised him to love the Church. In 1994-1995, he joined the Syriac Seminary in Mosul. In 1999, he graduated from the Seminary in Mosul with a Bachelor degree in Theology and Religious Studies. He has spent the early 2000s in various countries, where he served as a priest, taught preaching or have other tasks like coordinating the public relations at Mor Aphrem Monastery in Maarat Saydnaya, Syria.

In 2005, His Holiness decorated him with a pectoral cross. From 2009 to 2011, he was appointed as Assistant Archbishop of Mosul and Environs for spiritual and administrative matters. On June 6, 2014, he was forced by ISIS to leave the see of the Archdiocese in Mosul. He is currently residing in Ankawa, Erbil in the Directorate of Kurdistan, Iraq. He is known for his love for pastoral and social ministry as well as preaching.
